Union minister of information and broadcasting Shri Prakash Javadekar and Human Resources Department and Mr. Ramesh Pokhariya announced new education policy (NEP 2020).
The new education policy was drafted by K. Krishnamurthy, a former ISRO scientist. Created by a committee headed by Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan.
History of Changes in education policy:
In India the New Education policy (NEP) 2020 share ideas to revamp education,teaching and assessment systems in school, colleges, the first changes in national education policy in the year of 1968 and second changes made in 1986 and this is the third changes in education policy is 2020
Major changes are as.
In new education policy changes primary education system 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 form are follow, where 5 means 5 to 8 year, 3 means 9 to 11 year, another 3 means 12 to 14 and 4 means 15 to 18 year are considering.
In new education policy 2020 major change is that in education system in long time removed 10 Std board exam it means now students have to give only one board exam is 12 Std so lots of tension of students is tough to crack 10 Std now most of students are very happy with this decision.
These changes are new evaluation in education system for this new generation are learning new way and students will improve learning capacity its made in modern system.
This policy is applicable from year 2022.
In new education policy college education is 3 and 4 year, one year certificate course, two year diploma course and three year degree course are in N.E.P.,
1. Foundation stage :
Children will now be admitted to school from 3 years but in this duration children 3 year only do all their interested activities like play game, painting, fun activities, and many other activities so they feel well and interact to school, and next 2 year focus on primary study std 1 and std 2 but for this no exam conducted, it is called foundation Stage.
2. Preparatory stage :
This stage is three years plan so children study std 3, std 4 and std 5 for three years. in this three years children will study and other activities. up to this stage children will be taught in their mother tongue.
3. Middle stage :
Middle class stage is three years plan and student here study 6 std, 7 std and 8 std during this time. here student learn computer code, vocational means increase social work, tech, mathematics, science, arts, Indian language.
4. Secondary stage :
The last of of this policy is secondary stage is four years plan. in this stage student study in std 9, std 10, std 11 and std 12. in this stage the exam conducted semester base, no stream option available student select multiple subject form any stream, student can be learn foreign language,
5. Graduation :
In new education policy the graduation will be 4 years. below four year graduation mentioned,
1 year graduation complete called "Graduate Certificate"
2 year graduation complete called "Graduate Diploma"
3 year graduation complete means "Graduation Degree"
4 year graduation complete means "Graduation Research "
6. Post Graduation :
Now post graduation will be one year or two year if student complete three year of graduation so he have to study two year for post graduation and if student complete four year of graduation, he have to study only one year for post graduation.
7. M.Phil removed from education and only four year PhD is on syllabus
Positive of new education policy 2020 :
- it use 6 % of GDP for education,
- included vocation study,
- now school fee is fixed based on grade of school,
- result given by marks, self, friends and by teachers,
- top 50 world's best foreign university open their branched in India
- separate department
Negative of new education policy 2020 :
- Less important given to English medium
- centralization made, central body decide the syllabus of state education
